Tommy Callan Loyola Chicago Political Science

Tommy Callan is a Program Coordinator for the Federal Title V - IMPACTOS grant at Northeastern Illinois University.

He received his M.A. and Ph.D. conducting research on how & why democracies in Sub-Saharan Africa accept and implement Chinese development loans. He has demonstrated success as an undergraduate instructor, teaching courses on Chinese Foreign Policy, International Relations, and Terrorism among others. Since receiving his Bachelor's degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and moving to Chicago, Tommy has volunteered and interned with numerous non-profits and community organizations, including Business Partners - the Chamber for Uptown and the Illinois Science Council. That, combined with several years of Operations experience working at such companies as Meeting Tomorrow and Cars.com, gives him a unique perspective on the challenges of operations management in technology-forward industries.
